Bones found beneath a flood-hit Wetherspoon pub are believed to have come from an old monastery.
Workmen made the startling discovery yesterday as they carried out major repair work after the Picture House in Stafford was left under water following Storm Christoph.
They have since downed tools while tests are carried out on the bones to establish whether they are human.
