Canada’s movie theatre landscape is shifting dramatically, with the largest player getting bigger and the second-largest leaving the scene.
Cineplex Entertainment will own 78 per cent of Canada’s movie-theatre industry if the Competition Bureau approves plans, announced Thursday, to acquire 24 Empire Theatres locations in Atlantic Canada and two locations in Ontario — in Whitby and Kanata.
